Another rant :p

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Another rant :p

Gonna have to be carefull about this because its advanced, but im in a ranting mood today. Yesterday i had a play with a locked till cashbox (used by atleast 2 major consumer shopping brands) aswell as those lil security boxes that almost all major shops use to keep the till as money free as possible (The ones where they post all the £20/£10 notes).

And since im not able to pick today because of my arm i was just having a think and sketch of the principles they use and how they work/vulnerabilities.....And i am in shock. I just discovered a non DE bypass for each....

And although i feel elated about this discovery (I love solving puzzles like this) i just cant help but realise how much of society is built on trust, ignorance and bulls**t  i cant believe how i still to this day rely on locks for my security, checking that my doors and windows are locked.....knowing how easy i could get in......

Right now i am feeling more thankfull to forums like this where they try to keep information away from google and thus away from people that might shatter my illusion of security and safety.

It's an interesting thing. I responded to a question about a year ago "What was the most important invention in history." I, being a total lock nerd, of course answered locks. (you can read it here if you like).

The crux of the argument was that locks were the dividing line between public and private property. As such they permitted commerce and community. Expand from commerce and community and you quickly arrive at society as we know it.

Locks, man - they are too central to be this bad.
