Where can I find an "alarm padlock"

Postby nataz » 22 Mar 2010 20:41

so, I saw this on youtube.

where can I find a padlock like this, and are they expensive? I'd like to add it on a pandora's box-esq style challenge as an extra stress on the picker. I could also see using this in something like the gringo challenge. Not only is it stressful, but I could add in a guard response time for possible failure.

i found this from the same guy. Instead of a buy it now, its an auction.

if it stays low enough I'll think about bidding, especially considering that its about half the price for shipping as well. In his bin auctions the lock is like 33 dollars + another 13 in shipping - too rich for me considering how easy it is to pick.

I have a similar lock, found it at a local store (Brico Center) for less than 20 euro.

Cheers :)

An alarm padlock?
Boring.
How about exploding some paint on the thief?

The exact same lock as OP posted was in my local Aldi store last week £7.99. I bought one and wouldn't recommend anyone else buying one. The shackle is held closed by a tiny pall located on the back of the plug. It barely touches the shackle making it a very bad choice, given the obvious strike point, from a DE point of view.

There's a pack of two of these locks on eBay right now for 20 dollars plus 8 dollars shipping:

Got one of these in the mail yesterday.

Haven't had a chance to play with the electronics yet, but have picked it open.
It is a weird keyway (to me). A bit of a pain, it is C shaped, with the pins in the middle. They come down and actually touch the bottom of the lock. I picked it through placing my hook in sideways, and running the tip in to the pins and twisting up.

I will upload a couple of pictures later on.
