yale with barrel pins

Postby Rickthepick » 20 May 2010 8:09

Did a job yesterday opening a yale rim cylinder lock.
turns out it wasnt as easy as id hoped it was a newer model with stainless pins and double cut barrel spools very similar to a gege but a lot harder to pick... yes i drilled it in the end

any ideas what model this is. I wouldnt mind getting as couple to practice with

Harder than a gege? That's news to me lol, the yale X series don't give me much trouble but I've never cracked my gege... maybe it just hates me. Anyhoo to answer your question the cylinder should be model X5.

I have a 6 pin Yale with hardened antidrill pins, that won't pick open.

I thought I was out gunned, but I nabbed another cylinder from work and it opens pretty trivially. I've yet to persuade a Gege to open up for me, so maybe you just got another bastard lock which is unusual?

I can send you my bastard Yale on indefinate loan if you like, see if you can crack the little bugger?

ye man that would be good.

Maybe it was just a tough combo of pins... still a confidence knock when you get beat like that though
