Mul T Lock G-55 padlock and MT5?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Mul T Lock G-55 padlock and MT5?

Postby skyiscoolbeans » 23 May 2010 0:47

How resistant is the G-55 padlock to bumping and picking? Is it one of the Mul T Locks vulnerable to bumping?
And is the new MT5 able to be picked or bumped?
Just curious as to which lines/era of Mul T Locks can be bumped or picked. Thanks.

Think the MT5 can be bumped. But not the MT5+.

The G-55 padlock uses a 7x7 cylinder (a traditional 7 chamber dimple pin-tumbler lock), so yes it can be bumped. The only Mul-T-Lock model that definitely can't be bumped is the MT5+, which is not widely used yet. The "bumpability" of the other telescoping systems is shaky, but I've seen them bumped and have bumped my own before.

There's more information on all of the Mul-T-Lock telescoping systems available in the paper "Mul-T-Lock: Design & Security" at http://www.lockpickingforensics.com/articles.php
