Abus Granit series.

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Abus Granit series.

Postby skyiscoolbeans » 6 Jun 2010 4:46

I recall reading somewhere that Abus Granits are vulnerable to something, but I don't remember what exactly. I was recently particularly looking at the Abus Granit 36/55. Does this lock represent any major challenge to picking (or bumping)? How exactly are Abus Granits vulnerable? I'm looking to know now. Thanks in advance.

Oh, and for the record, the particular 36/55 is a pin tumbler system, not a rotating disc concept.

You're probably thinking of the abus plus, it's to do with reading the codes off the back of the discs. The disc detainers in the granit series aren't vulnerable to it as far as I know. Jaako wrote a detailed article in NDE magazine on the abus plus a while back, think it was issue 3. As for the granit pin tumblers, there's nothing special about them... they can be picked and bumped like any other abus (pin tumbler) padlock.
