is there any place to get keys for a medco lock other than to send your key back to medco.

It's Medeco, not medco. medco makes smoking pipes for old men.. Me-de-co. MEchanical DEvelopment COpany

Nobody sends their keys or locks back to Medeco's factory (unless your locks and keys are the Omega line), they have authorized locksmiths all over America and you can look one up on their website or in your local phone book. Who told you that you had to send the key back to Medeco? (just curious)

If you bought a used Medeco lock and it has some special restricted keyway, your local locksmith may not sell that keyway, but if it is an old Medeco with 00 AIR or 04 SKY keyway, or Biaxial G3, Liberty or Patriot, then yes, any locksmith who is a Medeco dealer can make you more keys as long as you either have the card, are an authorized person on that particular Medeco system, or you walk in with the lock and can convince the locksmith that he should make you a medeco key. Otherwise they may not make you one because that is one of the main selling points of a high security lock and key system, the keys and duplication of keys restricted to authorized persons.

but where there's a will there is a way, good luck,

I tought smoking pipes was just for old men too
but anyways is true
Medeco dealer can make you more keys as long as you either have the card,
or if you are authorized person on that particular Medeco system
but then again like squelchtone said
where there's a will there is a way
I know this place where they can make you copies of this Medeco
with 00 AIR or 04 SKY keyway, or Biaxial G3, and you don't need the card
but they are not cheap.

to answer your question, medeco is the one who told me i had to send the key back to them to get a duplicate.
the local locksmiths all told me the key blanks were restricted. thank you for answering my question.
