Lock Progression Advice

Hey guys I am new here and new to the hobby of lockpicking. Over the past week I have worked on my first lock (a Masterlock 140D) and have gotten to where I can pick it within 30 seconds most times. I picked up two new locks today (the Masterlock 5D and the Masterlock 532DPF) and have since picked them. I still don't feel very confident with them and am going to practice much more on them, but I was wondering what would be some incrementally harder locks to move on to next. Thank you.

Once you can confidently pick these locks you should move up to a deadbolt that you can re-key. Practice on removing/re-arranging pin stacks. If you can get one with security pins that is even better. Some of the more challenging store bought padlocks are the Brinks and American serrated pin locks. Americans are a bit more challenging but both should provide a good challenge to someone who is confident in picking standard pin-tumblers.

good advice. that adds quite a bit of new understanding on picking, either finding the security pins and seeing how they feel, or testing what methods best override them. also, i'd add some difficulty by moving on from pin tumblers to locks like wafer, warded, lever, and eventually tubular. the pin tumbler was my first too (i get choked up)...it's a great starting point to get the understanding for what locks do...or don't do.
