Schlage 5 or 6-pin hardware?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Schlage 5 or 6-pin hardware?

Postby Eyes_Only » 21 Nov 2010 11:30

Guys I have a question. Can most of the Schlage deadbolt hardware they sell at Home Depot accept both the 5-pin and a 6-pin cylinder like in the pictures below?

6-pin cylinder:

5-pin cylinder:

And which knob set can you use a Schlage Everest cylinder with? I'm pretty sure the F-Series is probably out of the question though right?

yes as long as you change the retaining screw to the " other position"

Sorry I don't know about the "F" locks ,but "A", and "D" locks can as long as you have the correct tail piece

Even with the new SecureKey locks? I know that at least for now Schlage only makes the 5-pin version for the SecureKey but I'm hoping that the rest hardware is the same.

I had an F51 the other day that was able to be replaced with 6pin standard. Mind you I had to file about 1/16" off the top of the bible.

everest kik wont work in a schlage F that you can get in home depot because those all use compressible bibles. maybe it would work in an older style, although i doubt it. The back of the cylinder is specific to that lock. Try an arrow m11 or a knockoff import.
