When i was rekeying my lock the top pins and springs fell out accidentally. How can I put them back in? I don't think any part of top off...

Thanks

@minifhncc:

You need a plug follower tool and a pair of tweezers to reassemble a cylinder which you have allowed the top pins and springs to escape from...

Hello there,

I'm looking at buying some tweezers. What would be some good ones that you could recommend for me to use for redoing the top pins, and that would be useful in the future (for other purposes too).

I'm looking at buying this one: http://www.lockpickshop.com/LT374.html -- do you know if they're any good for redoing the top pins? Would they be good for anything else too?

Sorry for these basic questions but I would like to get a nice solid tool set for the future.

Thanks,

Jason

I'm sure those tweezers work great... to be honest, though, for the couple of times a month that I rekey a lock, I just use a regular pair of fine-tipped tweezers.

It's probably a bit unconventional, but I'll sometimes use a small pair of hemostats instead: they offer really good grip and control -- and it's sometimes useful to be able to clamp onto things when working with small parts. (They often come out when I'm working on a Medeco cylinder, and need to put the tiny springs back into a sidebar.) :)
