Emtek

Anyone heard of this brand of Lock? We got a new door a while ago and it had this kind of lock on it. I started picking about 1 month ago and cannot pick it. I can pick the other locks in my house which are Schlage. Any thoughts?

I can't recall what keyway it is exactly, but Emtek is a brand of fancy looking hardware like handlesets with deadbolts in decoroative trim, etc.

There shouldn't be anything fancy and it should pick much the same as Weiser, Kwikset, and others unless it has a different (Medeco or something) keyway.

Btw, how many pins and what does the key look like? Do your Schlage keys fit into this lock?

You know I dont know if the schlage fits in the Emtek because I dont have the keys to the shclage, we never lock it as its for the garage door, i'll look for the key and check. I think the Emtek has 5 pins but I havent played with it enough to know for sure. I keep getting frustrated and give up, but I want to pick this lock bad!

Well, don't give up. Just take your time, do your research, then go back and try again. Knowledge is power.

Emteks are on the schlage c keyway. They use the SC1 keyblank, being 5 pins. Emtek makes fine locks, now they are owned by the ASSA Abloy Company. I used to have one on my front door, it picked easily I haven't seen any with security pins yet.

All Emtek's come with zero security pins, unless someone re-pins the driver pins. If it's store bought though, it has nothing special in it.
It should be a fairly easy pick.
