Removing barrel from lane door knob lock

Hello,

I'm in Australia and I'm having difficulty removing the lane lock barrel/cylinder from a lane door knob. I can get the door knob out and I can see the barrel in there but I just can't seem to be able to take it out.

Maybe I need to remove something but everything seems 'fixed' on the door knob that has been removed... Could someone please help?

Yeah okay sorry. I understand everyone's busy but I just dont want this topic to 'die'. Because I spend hours searching on google and I still havent found a solution.

And yes it does look like that lock. How would I go about re keying it? I would've thought that I would need to take the cylinder out and then follow the usual rekeying process (ie. insert follow plug etc) but I can't seem to take the cylinder out

Also, I haven't taken it apart very much. The furthest I've gotten to is taking the knob out (by pressing through the hole). I can't figure out how to take the cylinder out from the knob...

Sorry for so many replies. But you can't edit on this forum...

That lock in the picture is a 6 pin lock (description says) but mine is a 5 pin. But the design looks similar. I thought this may help

your knob may have a plate tightly pressed into the back which can be popped off making a much larger hole in the back for the cylinder to be removed, or it is possible that the bible on your cylinder has T pins and a spring cap that can be compressed allowing the cylinder to be pushed out of the back of the knob. is the hole on the back of the knob a perfect circle or does it have a flat part on one side?

Thanks a lot for help. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Basically, when you pop the handle off the door (using a pin or something sharp) there is a circular hole through which you can see the cylinder.

The hole just contains the cylinder. If it was a few millimetres larger then the cylinder would easily fall out.

Anyway, those pdfs do look similar to my lock. Thank you SO MUCH for them! Maybe my alignment is just wrong... But I've tried so hard to try and get the cylinder out. I might try again.

But I would seriously love some advice from people who have worked with these Lane locks before so that I have some reassurance of the right thing to do.

In Oz, Lane uses imported copies of the Schlage/Boyd "F"Series el cheapo garbage.

As squelchy said, you need to hold the cylinder toward the bottom of the hole, while pressing from outside slowly. The top springy bible retainer is sloped on one end and will move down as you push the cylinder through.

that should be fine. I think Lab pins for Schlage depths are .065-.300 and are all green.
