Should be simple. Take cam off and break head of key off and push completely through the lock from the front.
You could unscrew the cam, turn the key, assuming it turns and slide a follower in. Dump your cylinder pins and the key will fall out.
You can also remove the cap and re-use it. There are a couple of ways. One is to use a broken hacksaw blade so the teeth point to the rear of the cylinder, place it teeth down on the cap and tap with a small hammer from the front of the blade it will start the cap off.
You can also pry the cap up using a screwdriver. To re-use in this case bend the cap in a vice so it has an upward crease in the center and after placing it back tap it flat again.
The problem sounds like possibly one of two things. If a blank won't slide in then the top pins are too long.
The more likely problem is a fish hook from filing incorrectly when impressioning.
