The main difference is internal to the lock; the ACE-II uses different springs and pins in order to make it much harder to pick/impression with any of the cheap "tubular picks" that most places stock.
(Sorry if this sounds a bit vague... but we generally shy away from discussing too much about vending machine locks in the "open" forums.)
