Source for security pins

Postby MolonLabe » 16 Mar 2012 20:47

Does anyone know of a good source to buy security pins? I have a pretty good selection of standard and spool pins, but would like to practice with some other types, especially serrated pins. I've done a little searching, but haven't found much. I'm searching mainly for serrated, mushroom, and countermill pins. I think the countermill pins will be the most difficult, since I don't see them referenced very often. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it!

Raymond made a post about creating custom security pins: http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?p=369605#p369605

If you need more, LAB (and other companies) sells pinning kits that come with plenty.

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually thinking about buying one of the mini durex kits from LAB that contains both serrated and spool pins. Then I'll pick out the pins I want to keep for my practice locks and put some small security pin kits together with the leftover pins I don't need and sell them to others who are just looking for a handful to practice with.

From what I was told in a chat room Counter-milling is what is done to the chamber of the pins to give false sets. If you look at the 3 left holes, you can see a ring on them which is the security feature that gives the false set. Here is a picture to show it.

Now people who search for this in the future(just as I did), will have the answer in the post :)
If this is wrong, feel free to correct me, but I was unable to find this information from searching and had to ask someone who told me.
