Old alphabet combination lock

Postby Cibarius » 17 Nov 2012 14:39

Heya, first time poster.

A few months back a friend purchased a liquor store down the road from me, and with the business came this old safe. It has a 26 letter combination lock and he's wondering if there's a way to get it open. Nothing is known about the combination.

Thought I would post here to see if I can get the ball rolling toward opening it up for him.

Stethoscope? Don't know the first thing about how to approach this, any tips would be great!

I believe the lock uses [SNIP].
Manipulation should be easy.

Please be aware that taking about safes and how to open them on the open forum is not allowed.

I don't know the answer to your question, but that is a beautiful safe!

I would bet you have a Macneale & Urban safe there.
I'm not allowed to tell you how to open that little beauty but,
I would think I could say without fear if being reprimanded,

That wheel pack will have [SNIP], You get the idea.......

Let us what you find inside,
I'll bet it rubber-bands and paper clips

Correct.

His best bet is to call a local locksmith.
Be sure it's someplace with an actual storefront,
not something like AAAAAA+++++ LOCKOUT SERVICES with a national 1-800 number as the only point of contact.
If the locksmith is a member of SAVTA that can be a good sign that he's actually trained to work on safes and vaults.

By the way, are you anywhere near Longview Washington??
I'd like a crack at that safe if you give up.
Let me know :)
