Moved to a new office (cubibcle) in a different building. Decided that the $.50 chinese camlock. wouldn't do...



So, I rifled through my collection for something better (because locks like to be used, not to just sit in a box collecting dust)



That doesn't look right, what's that?



Medeco Duracam. Complete overkill, but it's fun to be able to use it.

Key Comparison. Turned over to hide bitting, but it's 4 rotating pins.



The interesting part was getting the cam to fit (camlocks aren't as standardized as I might like). It's a little short, but if I push the door a little it works just fine. Cheap sheet metal ftw! You could probably just put a pair of pliers on it and spin it, but it's fun to be able to use a good lock for something besides looking at it

Been hoping to get a duracam lock for the collection for a bit now. Have to say that I am glad you are getting good use from yours! Most people would not even notice the lock, but for those who know, it will get their attention.

People are always amazed to find out just how fast you can open a cheap wafer lock with two paper clips!

The problem I found was getting the lock to stay in the cabinet. The ones I've tried all seem to have a control wafer that's not engaged by the normal keys that's used to retain the lock on the cabinet itself (And I inevitable unlatch it as well).

You might be able to adjust it by bending the cam or the sheet metal it contacts, FWIW.
