It's a Caterpillar padlock, you get a bunch free when you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a new machine. They're used on gas caps, access panels, etc. That one is old (maybe 20-30 years) but not unique, just rusted. They all use the same key, CAT part number 5P-8500 and you can get the keys easily on eBay for a couple bucks. It's a double sided wafer lock.

The lock does have pins. Just to let you know. They are also on one side only.

Are the pins very square-shaped?

Nevermind its just some of the wafers wouldnt move at all when i applied light tension which in strange. They are square and it is double sided my mistake. I am going to keep the lock as a collectors item though, really like it.

There may be nothing wrong with the lock. Half the wafers are sprung up, and the other half are sprung down. Look for a recent post on disassembling a Chicago padlock.
