Lock that repins

Hi there read somewhere that you can get euro locks that come with 2 different set of keys.you use the first set of keys then rather than change barrel if key is lost you just insert 2nd set of key into lock to enable this to work .any help thanx

U Change locks are pretty good for this. You need a key tool but I just filed down a broken lock pick to use. If you freeze it up its easy to take apart and fix. Not like those kwikset smart keys which are easier to replace when you freeze them. I had a YouTube video how to change one. Ill see if I can't find it.

do they make U-Change in euro profile cylinder? If this is a thing I'd like to get one just to have!

You know... I don't really see why not. The components would have to be shrunken down a little bit. But I have seen them in lever cylinders. I don't deal with euro locks often. Be worth it to give them a call though. After research I didn't find any.

I can see why... the plug diameter is almost 3/4" - far larger than any euro-profile lock I have ever seen. Probably can fit it into a Scandinavian Oval format.

Note of caution taking the U-Change apart - if you want to disassemble the key pins, be careful! The internal spring is strong and will (not can...will) launch the end of the key pin you are not holding a looooooong way! Luckily, was taking it apart in the living room instead of where I normally do my lock work. The tile floors made it possible to find the spring and half the key pin both times they launched. For the other three key pins, took them apart inside a plastic bag.

Remember that bypass for U-Change... I wouldn't install one on anything with that out there.
