American 3900 with a Schlage Primus core

As the title says I have an American 3900 series padlock with a Schlage Primus core that I am fighting with at the moment. The tolerances seem to be tight on this lock it looks as if I got my work cut out for me.

Yes, you do have your work cut out for you. Do a search on this site for Primus and ASSA Twin Combi. That ain't your average Schlage to pick!

Definitely. While I've never attempted picking a Schlage Primus, I have an Assa V-10 that's been a challenge thus far. Picked it to shear twice, but haven't mastered the sidebar yet. The last time I picked the top pins, I slid a shim in there so I can focus on picking the sidebar pins. Still have a lot of work ahead of me!

Oh god this is a super lock huh, well that's just great. I just got an American 1100 in the mail and think I will work on this one lol.

Good luck with that Primus. I fought with an Assa Twin 6000 and almost had it open a while back. I could pick the six top pins to the shear line, but the sidebar was out of control! This one was in a really cool Assa Ruko 2 that I had a replacement core for and I just wanted to get the darn thing open and pull the old core out. I finally picked it on top and got as many of the sidebar pins set as I could and turned it open with a stubby flathead and a pipe wrench… problem solved. Put the new core in and now I've got a working Ruko 2. After working on picking that lock for as long as I did, I am not at all ashamed of forcing it open. I would've preferred to finesse it open, but what the heck! Let us know how it goes for you!
