Old Army Master Lock

Hey guys,

Buddy of mine at work knows I like to pick and had an old lock he wanted me to try and pick. He said that it is so strong that it would chip the teeth off of bolt cutters. He said he got it in the service and it has "US" engraved in the layers. on the bottom it has:

"DG"
"Master
Lock Co."
Assembled in mexico

Its proven quite the lock for a master lock. Any tips for this one?

Decent bolt cutters would cut it without trouble. Have a couple here with cut shackles.

IIRC, they have five pin stacks, and they do have spool pins. Try a little lighter on the tension wrench, and see which pin stacks cause counter-rotation.

I can see where someone tried with some bolt cutters. Must Have been some crappy cutters then haha.

Having a hard time finding a good tool for TOK tension. The keyway has a pretty trippy design and will leave your tension tool in the same spot once any bottom tension is applied. My standard peterson pry bar is too thick. May need to order a thinner one.

I took a look at the bitting and the key is very odd. It has 3 long flat spots that make up the whole key which leaves me to believe the pins are at the same heights.

Still no luck. I got a slight false set once but other than that, nada.

The Pry-Bar 'lite' should fit most Master Lock keyways (not knowing exactly which keyway you have I can't make any guarantees though), the Peterson Flat-Five set fits anything too small or awkward for the Pry-Bars.
If the bitting cuts on the key look like a broad staircase (or possibly one of those award platforms that rises in the middle) it should be very easy to rake (usual caveats about security pins apply).

I in fact do not have a picture of the key. I will try to get one in a bit.

I can definitely feel some Serrated in there by the gritty pops of setting. I always have trouble with even bitting rather than up, down, up, down for some reason. But My city rake has put fourth a lot of time in this lock. Most amount of pins that I have set is 3 and that was SPP. there is at least 5 pins that I can feel.
