So I took apart a cylinder with a keyway on both sides to look at how it works. If I understand correctly, when I insert the key, the component below is pushed into the cam so that the key engages the cam. How does this work when using a knob cylinder? I believe that when rotating the knob, the keyway doesn't rotate but when rotating the key, the knob does rotate. So how does this work? One thing I thought of is that the half on the keyside of the component below is slightly longer, so that when the key is inserted, both the cam and knob are engaged, but when the knob is engaged, the keyside isn't. Not sure if this is clear, but could make drawing if necessary. Anyway, this is just how I would expect it to work, but I don't really know so I'm curious how this works with a knob cylinder. Thanks!
