Unknown type of master lock

I have one of these locks in my hand that's rather old - so old that the plastic housing has loosened up and slides off upwards rather easily. Once it's off, you can see the brass plugs that hold the pins and springs in - and they're inserted into whatever metal the body of the lock is. Sorry no pictures, but inside the cover there is a raised 7x452 that I don't know if it's an identifying number or not. The base of the lock says 40mm. If I had the tools available, I would try drilling out the plugs to disassemble it, but where I'm at they're not available. Has anyone else tried it?

I'm so CLOSE! 1 pin, but I can't get the last pin I'm not sure how to finish it. I'm even cheating and using the M pick. I can't get enough feel feedback from this lock. Thanks for the vid awol, of course everyone makes it look it easy. I will get this open but I have to keep working on it. The pressure needs to be exact and that's where I'm messing up.

It's that last really deep bitting. When you're raking, put just the edge of your tension wrench in the lock to leave space for your rake to drop low enough to get it. (If this is still that black 130 like you sent me)

I have the 40mm lock of this, and went out and bought your 30mm. I opened in with in 1 minute or so, twice. After that I can't seem to open it what so ever, the key works, but picking is not possible. Probably to much tension; could some one post the trick to this lock.

The tolerances on the lock I have seem to be erratic, to say the least. I can rake it, but spp doesn't want to work at all.

Yup - that's typical.

Slow down. Beat it against the palm of your hand. Try vibrating the tension wrench really softly as you go.

These locks can be so low-feedback that I've had them picked open for a handful of seconds before realizing that I can stop picking and rotated the tension wrench the rest of the way now.

Seriously. I've had 'em open and never known it.

Try taking tension off the shackle too by pushing it in, or jiggling it with your opposite thumb as you pick.

I just started picking a couple days ago while i was at work to pass the time and luckily found this site. I picked up a couple locks at the hardware store and the 131D was what i got. it looks exactly like the picture posted on the thread. I got it by luck once but i found a trick that makes it almost to easy. Now i am not familiar with locks very well yet so it may not be the same for all of the 131's but if tricks of locks of the same model are the same than i go tyour answer. You only pick the third and second pin. I use a half diamond. It is easier than raking, which wasnt hard, but either way i simply interted the pick past the first and second pin while appling no torque. Once in and i was under the thirst pin i applied max tourqe until it wouldnt turn, not incredibly hard, but just enough that it stopped the plug. Right after i simply pop the third pin all the way up and it opens. Now it sometimes doesnt want to budge, or the pin clicks and the plug turns a little more. Once this happens just slide back and pick the second pin and boom goes the dynomite. Lock is open. To anyone who knows a good amount about locks please let me know it this is something that would work on other 131d's. I would like to know if tricks likt this that i see you al lsaying will work if i were to be using the same lock described. Thank you.

In my experience, this wouldn't work on all of them, it all has to do with the biting on your particular lock. I have picked a few of these with no problem, mine had a spool or two in them, I used light to moderate tension and just stuck a diamond in them pulled it out and stuck it in again and for the most part they all popped open.

Use very light tension on these. Much less than what you need to open the lock with the key. When they pick open, you will have a burst of plug movement until the spring stops the plug. Then you apply heavier tension to pop the shackle.

This is the easiest lock I've ever picked.... I can rake it open in apporx 2 secs, SPP takes a bit longer but still isn't too hard.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I came across this in a google search. I'm a new picker and I came across one of these locks in a parking lock, I figured it would be a good first lock to work on. Little did I know they had spools in these things, was not expecting that at all. The strange thing is, I swear mine's only a three pinner. Pin one binds first and the slightest touch gives a click and a bit of rotation on the core. Then it's pin two and even with the slightest of tension, I really have to ram it home and get a big counter rotation. Then pin three needs a near pick bending level of force with a HUGE counter rotation and pop, it's open. Sometimes one falls down when setting three but usually not. It was thoroughly frustrating at first because it would take me 10 minutes of fighting to get it open and even then I had no idea what I did to get it but now that I have the feel for it I can pop it in 10-20 seconds every time. It's a surprisingly fun little lock.
