Good old No.7

Postby spudwinkle » 11 Mar 2016 14:30

I have 11 no. 7 master locks 10 keyed alike, one no key, all bought of E-Bay.
The biggest trouble I had with them was tension them. My wrench would go flying
when I thought I had a false set. Turns out that what feels like a false set is an open!
I found this out on one of the last ones I was picking for the 3rd. time.
This one did the wrench flying trick 2 time the 3rd time I was ready and thought I had
cot the core with my pick. I was putting my wrench back in when I slipped with the pick
and to my surprise the false false set was still there. I put the wrench back in and opened
the dam little thing. This happen with the last of this little things I pick.

So if the wrench goes flying on you when pick one of these little thing just do what I do.
Pick the wrench up off the floor and open the lock.

I scored a few dozen master 6230's that are like that. Took me a while to realize the "false set" I was getting was actually an open.

If I'm recalling correctly, you won't see a factory Master laminated (No 1, 3, 5, 7, 17, etc.) with spool pins, ergo you won't experience a false set while picking them.
