Does anyone else pick mul-t-lock?

Postby WestCoastPicks » 9 Mar 2016 23:28

Does anyone else pick mul-t-lock? I've been picking mul-t-lock's for a while now, and from what I see and hear about talking to locksmiths, they don't even try to pick them. Some don't even have dimple lock picks.

I was talking to a local locksmith (in his shop) today, and was talking about mul-t-lock. I mentioned how I was able to pick them, and he had a very very skeptical look on his face. I'm not sure if it's because the lock is worth $200 or if he didn't believe me, but the story is; One of the locksmiths pinned up this nice interactive plus mul-t-lock padlock, put it together but didn't make keys and lost the bitting he had written down. Well he gave it to me to "play" with and if I get it open to bring it back to him. If not bring it back in a week.

20 mins it took me. Not bad for a blind interactive plus, with those darn shutters.

My question is about the MT5. Anyone here have much time on one? It is my next step in the evolution of mul-t-lock picking.
Anything I should know or avoid?

I have picked one MT5, and have another that I've not managed yet. I routinely pick Integrators, Garrison, classic and Interactive, though I get the odd one which won't play ball.

Have not picked an MT5 or MT5+, but have picked the other models.

I brought him back his open lock, he was happy. So happy in fact, he gave me another one he doesn't have keys for to open.

I'm starting to think he's taking advantage of me.

It's a win-win situation: you're happy because you have free locks to pick, he's happy because can reuse the locks.
I wish I find someone like him...

Cheers :)

PS: I pick multilock too.

Yeah, it's a good setup. I"m on #3 now, I've had it for a couple days now.. It's not opening. I think it might have inactive pins in it, I feel stuff in the way sometimes.

My first "high security" picks were Mul T Locks. Something about them was more appealing. I have had luck with the classics and a few interactives. I have never gotten a chance to attempt an MT5. I do have an MT5 plus though. That things insanely difficult to learn with the sidebar. I'm curious to see what others have to say about the MT5 although this is borderline advanced discussion. Also I agree no locksmiths I have spoken to will even attempt to pick Mul T Locks, Medecos etc.

Yeah, so far all mine have been classic and interactive plus. Haven't tried an MT5 yet :)
