Hi,
I'm not sure if i should post this in the locksmith business thread or here. I talked to a retired locksmith today and It was very interesting. Here is something he told me that he used to do to make better margin of profit: He would put CX5 locks into Blue scorpion Generic Locks housing. IE: deadbolt, knobs and mortises. see http://www.scorpionlocks.com
He told me that he did it for commercial as it was as good a medeco, because the odds of a thief being able to pick them is close to zero. The housing is going to be weaker than a medeco or high security expensive lock but someone with a sledgehammer is going to make it through any of them anyway.
Im wondering if thats considered a cheap thing to do, or something to look for when trying to find better cost alternative for commercial door locks.
Thank you,
David
