Master Lock's new No.3

Postby Pick180 » 9 Feb 2019 17:13

I just saw LPL new video about the master lock no.3 now having ball bearings. Why did master lock go to ball bearings when they could have made the lock shim proof by using the same design as they did on the old master lock no.19? The master lock no. 19 had locking levers could not be shimmed because of its design.

Video I am referencing from lock picking lawyer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOO8yA2eU7M

Adrian Weber's video showing the master lock no.19 and its locking levers: https://youtu.be/CK2YGXyjMwo?t=227

Thing is Master Padlock has to award their CEO a huge cash bonus every year, so they need to constantly be cheapening their product, in order to scrape up that big pile of money. It isn't just Master padlock, if you take a look at any of Black & Decker's (Baldwin, Kwikset & Weiser) products you'll see the same type cheapening of products. Look at the Schlage deadbolt sold by hardware stores--they have now removed all the brass (except the retainer cap pin) in favor of using cheap pot metal. All these company's have learned that as long as they all make a cheap, junky product the consumer will have nowhere else to turn & their junky junk will continue to sell.
Look at the latches used nowadays--No grease present in most of them because that would make them last longer & planned obsolescence won't stand for that

This is why I like to put my own grease into moving parts that I service--that's how I say F You to all these company's

They changed the design on the Master 21 as well. It uses ball bearings and a new cylinder.
