[quote="Squelchtone"]Here's a very comprehensive listing of the most commonly known lock brands and models. I have not included every lock model, just some of the ones we all like to pick and discuss in the locksport community.

....

Bramah
....
Squire

Squire established 1780 is arguably the oldest manufacturer on this list but would have manufactured warded locks only at that time. In 20th century they produced a range of padlocks similar to Master but now concentrate on high strength padlocks.

Bramah established 1784 would probably be the second oldest high security lock manufacturer (by 10 years) and the first still in existence today with the original high security 'slider' tumbler design principle still being manufactured - and it is still high security even after 235 years.

Barron (not listed) established 1774 produced the first lever locks but these were rather primitive compared with modern safe, detention and older payphone locks. Barron's locks were considered high security at the time. No longer in business - may have been taken over at some point.
