Looks a bit funky, but it works normally... NOT!!! What looks like a shackle normally has a chain permanently attached to it. The other end of the chain fits into the bottom of the lock. How??? Well, read on, my fellow lock enthusiasts.

To open it, slide over the shutter...

Put in the key and turn it. The bottom of the lock slides down to allow the chain to be removed from the locked area.

The opposite side has the label on it. Patented August 3, 1920. Not really sure how long production continued, but know this is not all that common of a lock.
