That is not related to the question I and the OP asking, which is identifying the type of lock mechanism to begin with.
What billdeserthills is saying is that he personally doesn't wish to give details when he doesn't know iif the person should be opening the lock. billdeserthills' is a lifelong locksmith whose father was also a locksmith. He has plenty of experience with people trying to get him to open places or things that they have no business opening.
So if he chooses to not give further information without knowing more about circumstances, you can't really blame him. Perhaps he might have phrased his request for more details about the lock in question a little better. He is just being cautious. Just think "what if that was my locked item, and someone was trying to get info on how to open it." That is billdeserthill's point of view.
