Master Lock no.140

ive been reading up on this lock, in addition to tinkering with one i bought. im extremely new at this, i have read the guides/stickies/searches on the master 140. i kno one or more pins are spooled on it, but all i really want to kno is this: when i begin to apply torque, the plug rotates a little before it catches against the hull, and if i realease tension the plug rotates back to its resting position. so i assume i need to apply torque till the plug rotates, then ease off pressure to begin picking? thnks.

update on this: have now successfully picked it 6-7 times now, and i noticed a few peculiararities with the pins, but i will post in how to section. thanks all the same.
