From what I understand, most automobile locks have pins on the top and bottom. If you've ever seen a tension wrench that's "Y" shapped (Having two blades that insert into the lock) that's what it's for... you can insert the tension wrench in the lock, and pick both the top and bottom pins. I've heard that these are rather tedious to compromise. I've not yet tried myself.
