Brinks R70?

Hi guys, been lurking for a while, made my own picks from the video and got my first lock (a Kwikset, of course). I can do that one pretty easily now and it was starting to get boring so I got a new lock, a Brinks R70. My friend used to lock up his bike with it but now it's locked and he can't find the key (D'OH) so he gave it to me to play with since it's totally worthless to him. My question for you all is: Is this too difficult for a second lock? I'm still a beginner and don't want to get frustrated. It's one of the "disc style" shielded locks. Does it have security pins etc., and can I take them? If not, what would you recommend as a second lock for a beginner? Thanks for your help guys.

A search (look for the magnifying glass) of the keywords 'brinks' & 'shrouded' turned up 120 replies. Have a look at these posts and repost if your question isn't answered within these posts.

If I am thinking of the right lock, this one is shrouded, and has serraded pins. This lock would be better reserved for after you have picked a few more standard locks like the kwikset, some masters, and perhaps some yales. So save that lock for about 2 weeks, and pick a few more easy locks proficiently.

ah young padawan, for you to will become a jedi master......... all in due time. keep the brinks but go onto somethine else theres plenti of locks out there
