Postby Luke » 26 Apr 2005 2:57

Hey guys, i took a call for the repair of a euro mortice, the guy took it apart after it was stiff ... seems like every thing is in order, but anyway to get to the point, i dont have a clue how to put the thing back together

Can't help with specifics, but treat it like a jigsaw puzzle and try all the bits that fit together until you get it right?

It looks like you are missing the knob or levers and square-sided bar for the latch too, unless you just left those out of the photo?

At least some parts in that photo look like they belong to the latch mechanism; not all are for the deadbolt. And why is the latchbolt retracted? I would have thought it should be held out by a spring.

Looks like an interesting puzzle. There are a couple of ways to approach this. The first one being find another the same to use as a reference. Not always possible I know. Second, things that fit together go together usually. Try fit things and remember what fitted to what before trying to fully assemble. It does however look like there are items missing from the photo. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the completed lock photo posted soon.

OK, i didnt get to see these posts before i did it tonight, i popped open one installed on our front door, just to get my barrings. A few fiddly bits but once a suitable method was found (and stored in my brain  it was simple) I discovered the gentleman was right about one of the latches been stiff... one of the springs had slipped up and was not sprining lol, i'll post a pic of it in a few... just gotta stick my lock back in the door ... I reckon 20 bucks from this guy should cover me :) thanks..
