Rule #1: Don't practice picking with a lock that you rely on every day.

Rule #2: See rule #1.

Sorry, I can't help with that particular lock, but I can tell you that anything you hit with a hammer is likely to end up more broken afterwards than it was before you hit it.

I believe you may need a special key to get the lock back together, or you may have to pick it again the same way you got it to come apart.

try recreating the conditions when it fell off, so if the lock was turned to 90 degrees then it fell out, pick it to that point, then try inserting it. a hammer is never going to help a lock really, so avoid using a hammer. there may be something in the way when you're trying to reinsert the lock that you havent seen, so make sure there is nothing obstructing it, for example grooves it may fit into? im not familiar with the lock you have, so im guessing a bit, but it help.

good luck!

Good, I'm glad to hear that. But for anyone reading this in the future, it serves as a good reminder about why Rule #1 exists. :)

If you look very closely you'll notice that there is only one way that it can go back in to align properly and make the appropriate connection behind the cylinder. Once you establish that angle, pop it in and turn the plug to set it. These are tricky, especially before you know what you're doing with them. Good luck!
