No, seriously, I've taken off the bottom 'bolts' with a dremel cutting bit, but that didn't seem to do it. Do I have to take the top 'bolts' (nub thingies)off as well? Could I grind part of it away with my bench grinder, or should I wait to get some cutting bits for the dremel?

You can try holding the lock in a vise and then taking a nail and pounding on the nail with a hammer to take out the rivets. Sometimes even that doesn't work, and you'll need to cut into the first plate of the lock. Most of the time, the two rivets nearest the middle of the lock are fake. So what you'll need to do is cut in between the two end pairs of rivets
- Code: Select all
O | |O O | X |O
Imagine that the "Os" are rivets, the "|s" are the lines that you cut on, and the "X" is the keyway.

Very good, mad mick, Thanks. I'll go 'improvise', I guess. I don't have all of the said tools.

Sure, let's add one more 'sticky' to the thousands that are there already. Nothing will change though.

Minion,
If you have the bottom nubs off, either put it
in a vice and take a nail and hammer to knock
out the pins, only need 1 side of nubs off, all
one piece, or take a flat head screwdriver and hammer
and put it onto the last two free plates, either way
they are not soldered in so a little chiseling is enough.

future reference, the rivets are expanded inside the holes of the the last lamination or two, for me, the way to get a laminated padlock open, pick the third lamination and cut away its corners with a hacksaw, at 45 degree angle until you sever the rivets and the last two laminations fall away.
