Wheel Clamp Locks

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Over here if its the council who have clamped your vehicle then it will or most probably will get towed after a short period then as you say Db the charges go up and up and up until you pay.

Luckily where i am there are no traffic wardens not alone wheel clampers, i dont see either until i venture out into manchester areas which i rarely do, in fact the last itme i was in manny it was for the g-mex show and i managed to get my van written off on the way back!!

As for foiling them, carry a batt socket driver, just remove the nuts/bolts from your wheels and if clamped pull the wheel off,

Low cars can still be clamped and if they cant clamp them they will come and drag it onto a high loader and smash all the spoilers etc or come and lift it up with a highab and damage the wheels anyway.

If they want you (or should i say your vehicle) they will have you.

Best thing to do is not to park illegally

This is why we recommend anyone who removes a clamp to take it with them - Although it would be ice to see the face of the clamper when they return to find their precious clamp in bits!!!

classic.... :P

I detest clampers with every bonr in my body. Sure if you get done my the police then whoever said it is right "be a man and pay up". I used to work for a company in London and we all uesd to spend our free hours (in the summer) sunbathing in Regents Park..one day i got clamped.no excuse pay the fine and go home. I have also on at least 3 occasions been clamped in my home town(Dunstable) not a busy city and each time at night .In those days the clampers didnt have a clue how to do it properly and by jacking up the car and letting down the tyre i managed to free the car from said clamp. This was before i was proficient with the pickgun. Iwas lead to beleive that as long as the clamp wasnt damaged or stolen you were within your rights to remove it.At the time i took emense pleasure in leaving the unharmed clamp on the doorstep of the clamping company.
I have been threatend with violence since when i said i would pick the lock to remove it on at least 2 occasions ,i have given them a debit card and cancelled it straight after and got away with it. I have actually been clamped in a carpark behind a block of flats in london where i was on a court warrant and they still wouldnt let me off. These guys are the filth of the earth if you get clamped and its not a police one, pick the lock ,take it to their office and shove it up their ar....
Glad to get that of me chest anyway
Andy

The quality is quite poor, it was taken using a D500 and the built-in flash.

If you really want to see an extreme case of tow away try going to the annual sturgis motorcycle rally in sturgis, south dakota. People from all over the usa and also france, germany etc show up and completely overload a very small town. You can imagine parking is can be very hard to find. If you even park an inch or two into the yellow no parking areas they call in the tow truck and haul your bike away swinging in tow strap. This can easily scratch, dent your bike or both, you would think that with all the money that town rakes in that they could find a safer way to tow a bike.
Every day above ground is a good day

I was at the Bluewater shopping centre the other day and noticed that they have these lovely signs up which say that by parking in a disabled bay without the blue (disabled) badge you agree to your car being fitted with a clamp and absolve the clamping company of any damage caused to your vehicle by their fitting a clamp or towing your vehicle.
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!
