No one called you a crinimal (or at least i certainly didnt), the lock you initially spoke about WAS in use and the other one WASNT, re-read the part of my post you have quoted you will notice that i said the fact that you suggested playing with a unused lock saved you any flaming as such begineers usually get when posting things like that,
But hey as they say if you cant stand the heat, get out the kitchen.
You've got to be kidding me.
There is no ultimate, inexorable, heavenly-commissioned force of nature that is the LP101 Flame. If you are being a pain in the *ss, you have the ability to stop. Pretending otherwise is nothing short of a cop-out to excuse justifying your behavior.
There is only one high horse here. If I want to -- and I often *do* -- pick my front door deadbolt until it bleeds, it is not only my prerogative, there is nothing morally, socially, or philosophically wrong with it, and while a quick pointer advising me why it may not be wise is fine, there is NO use (except to drive away contributing forum-users) to try to beat me up over it.

My last post on this subject as its been blown all out of proportion,
I suggest you go re-read my posts on this thread, you will notice smilys and the fact that i never said i would flame him or that he should have been flamed, i meerly suggested that he may have got flamed by someone if he hadnt said that he was going to pick an unused lock, yes experianced members or even members that know what they are doing regulary pick locks in use, in fact thats what i do every day as im a locksmith, the argument is newbies shouldnt do it for the fat that they may damage the lock,
I can point you at many many posts whereby members and yes i imagine even you vec, have indeed told newbies off for picking locks that are in use,
My original post was meant to be a light hearted comment that as others in the thread had already summised would probably not be seen by the original poster thus not cause any offence even if (as it obviously was) it was read with the wrong context, indeed in that post and the one following it i made some helpful suggestions for the other members who are participating in the thread,
My third and last post was in retaliation to the flaming i got for my light hearted earlier post as the original poster did come back and unfortunatley read the post wrongly,
No flaming isnt a needed part of site or is it called for in a lot of instances but it happens and to be honest vec people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones, do you need me to start dragging up all the instances you have flamed people where i wouldnt have done?
Lets put this to rest, i did not mean to start any wars on site, i dont think the posts aimed at myself are/were called for but i also bow down to the fact that i perhaps could of worded my original one differantly and instead of trying to get a bit of a laugh and make it light hearted i should have kept it all serious and not bothered posting about the locks in use bit,
Im sorry if you feel offended vec but i say it how i see it, would you like me to remind you of this thread everytime you flame someone in future?

wow... all of this happened as a result of my thread ressurection
There is a genuine fear that this forum could be used by thieves and other evil b******s to compromise all of our feelings of security... indeed if this were widely believed it could threaten the existance of this forum - so there has to be suspicion, cos it is a genuine possibilty!
This forum carries a lot of trust, and we have to trust each other to do what is moraly right, and so far i think i can say th@ i am confident th@ the participants of this forum are genuinely doing this for a hobby (or job) but u have to be careful with such a topic.
picking your house locks is risky, but perfectly reasonable - i see nothing wrong with this ( rather ur own locks than someone else's right?)
we're all friends here (well i'm sure i have some haters over my dumb posts) and if we (lock hobbyists) cant behave like mature adults then why the hell do we expect other people to believe we are not thieves?
hope u enjoyed this huge amount of text- and any meaning u find in it

Maybe too much caffeine is the problem. I suggest green tea.
