Bloctout by Bricard, a French no-springs-many-wafers lock

With a pair of sidebars, this lock could be quite good. A sort of wafer-bilock.

That's what I was thinking,too! Throw some serrations on the wafers, and the wafers would lock up when you put tension on the lock.

However I would not recommend further development of the Bricard wafer lock. It is an old design that was made with key copy protection rather than picking or other security in mind. It is made of very thin steel with a plastic core. Not exactly a security lock.
