Nicely done.

I was thrown off by the fact that the pics were all of the plug. Here I'm envisioning him jamming this Medeco plug into a Schlage shell and wondering why it wasn't working. :lol:

Wow, I actually found them. Those had to be the smallest springs I've ever seen. Again, I really I appreciate you guys' help - I never would have looked for those springs if you wouldn't have told me. I would have also had a Medeco paperweight :lol:

Thanks again, and I think I'll get some practice on a cheaper lock!

a couple of tips on medeco re assembly, if you have the mortise type with the two half moon drill breakers, these can cause some difficulty in reassembly, but you can keep them from slipping out of place with a little vaseline or grease. Also, when dissasembling a medeco, use a black marker to mark the plug and sidebar with on line accross both, near either end, this will help you orient the sidebar when reassembling, the side bar has an offset that is meant to go only one way. you can see this by looking at the outer edge of it and how its not centered.

You FOUND them!? Wow...that's actually quite amazing. Usually you have a pretty hard time finding them even right after losing them. You started looking for them AFTER posting about it in this thread and posting pictures! I'm surprised they didn't get lost or crushed! Consider yourself lucky. ;-)

Heh, funny thing...

When I first met Omikron last year, we took apart his medeco and I lost one of the sidebar springs. The floor had dark colored carpet and the spring was black. Needless to say it was a chore finding it.

or make sure the anti-drill ball bearing is facing the front of the lock

My carpet's pretty dark too, but I was able to find them using the time-honored "run your hands over the carpet in the general area where you lost them" method :lol:

I have been working with old medecos, the ones that don't have the ball. Medeco has made a lot of different variations over the years.

The ball can be seen on the photo's posted in the previos page ( side bar only photo's ) it is yet another form of drill resistance
