Medeco?

A Biaxial like Medeco should make it very difficult or impossible for them... if they can even make a bump key.

buy a Kwikset Smartkey biometric lock and remove the tailpiece from the back of the exterior lock cylinder. they can bump all day but it wont open the lock, only your fingerprint scan will.

Just make sure you replace the batteries every few months, it would be bad if they go dead. :)

Squelch, have you seen the Myth Busters episode on biometric locks, including a door lock with the liveness sensor that was claimed to never have been defeated (by the manufacturer)

Just looked it up, its episode 59, it was quite hilarious just how easy it was to trick that fingerprint sensor... lol, perhaps not the best suggestion for a guy dealing with mischievous pickers, especialy if they watch tv

I would go for the nade, although i wouldn't tape it to the wall on top, i would attempt to secure it on a ledge, but let it move freely on top, straighten out the pin, and still secure a string to the door, just in such a way that when the door opens, the nade falls and unpins itself in the process ;)

Other ideas:
Armed guards
Door operated flame thrower
An angry pit bull, tiger, skunk or other animals or even a hungry constrictor reptile would do
A torch to continuously heat up the door handle (that'll teach them)
An alarm system
You could also take out the lock cylinder on their door and repin it (if the lock alows for it)
A safe lock
A surveillance camera, and then a cd with their break in video and a note
You could try getting the whole apartment complex into that TV show, where an ex burglar gets into the house and then they redo the security for the whole building :)
You could get an rfid lock and just give one of the swabs to your land lord

That's it for thoughts for now :)
Let the picking begin...
