We're both talking about the ASSAs with the counterbored plugs and spool pins, correct?

I suppose we are. But the spools on the main pins are a little different from regular spools; they look kind of like this in profile:

Code: Select all
  _______

  _|___|_

Yes, I was just making sure that we're on the same page. The pin is like a spool pin in most ways except that the smaller diameter doesn't dominate most of the pin, and that the length between the bottom of the pin and the smaller diameter part is much smaller than with most spool pins. I believe there was a good thread in the advanced forums about picking locks with these pins... Let me dig it up for you.

counter bored, means that there is a cut in the drilling of the cylinder close to the shear line that will allow the flange on the end of that pin to lock in under turning pressure, This will not react with the kind of false set reverse plug motion that happens in spool pin picking. This is totally tricky for spp, but probably not a problem for bumping, if you are careful to release tension and reset the pins between bumps.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
