hrm put it back together with the small part facing up, and went and picked up some non-security pins to swap out with my spools. Think Im all set now, thanks again everyone.

try get some smaller springs as well because with the pins in the lock now the springs go half way down the top pins, with the new top pins they wont be able to do this and might get to compressed when a key is used.

The small driver pins from the knob lock are called "T" pins. Spring goes onto the smaller part of the pin.
