I'm not a fan of combo locks for the same reason you list above - someone would just preset the code (used to do that back in school many eons ago). But I think you nailed it with the Brinks/American shrouded. Great example. And the Brinks name would tend to turn people away just through brand recognition. Especially if there's a Brinks Alarm sign in the window.

It is a funny small world! But I suspect most people that have an interest in one kind of "puzzle" will find both of interest, right?
