Upside-down

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Right. if they are so "important" to you, why are you randomally locking a padlock onto them, and permitting it to damage the paint?

Also, why don't you take a photo further back, showing the beds and part of the room? That'll shut us all up..

Fine. Here are a couple of pictures,if you're so set on seeing my bedroom.

Silly me, I thought that this was a forum for friendly discussion about. I suppose I didn't factor in the possibility that the moderator staff might be in a rude mood.

I can understand being cautious about this sort of thing, but openly mocking a user is completely unnecessary.

By the way, I placed the lock here because I was confident in my ability to pick it (too confident, it would appear, but I digress.)

I came to you for help. I find it interesting that every person who has posted, save for unlisted, has been helpful or, at the very least, encouraging. I've been nothing if not forthcoming and honest with you, and all it has earned me (from the mod staff, anyway) is derision and mistrust. I am severely disappointed.

My "job" here is one to moderate- and if there is something questionable, I will call it out. You were rather evasive in your posts..

Like others have said, we have no clue why you cannot pick it when its upside down.. you should be able to.

Probably just has something to do with the way your holding your picks and/or the angle..

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance. I would suggest unlocking it with the key, and working on it while it is not locked to an object.

Can you remove the mattress from the top bunk, and "flip" the lock upward facing? If you don't have the key, may be your only option, short of dismantling the bed as you already stated.

You may want to click on the "page 1" button and re-read this post from the beginning, I am not the only one who was (in your own terms) unhelpful...

Don't know what else your expecting.. people have already given you some really good advice, it sounds like you expect some "magic trick" or "trade secret" we don't have to give to you on how to pick this..

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do your job. I only suggest that you do it in a less mocking manner. As I stated before, I mean no offense; and I will try to be more clear in the future about the nature of my lock problems. I didn't think myself to be evasive at all when I typed those posts, but I suppose I can see how they might seem suspicious.

Thank you for the services you render to this forum.

Unfortunately, due to the size of the shackle and the width of the strip, the lock simply cannot rotate any farther that when the mattress above in is place. I also have been informed by my brother that the key has been lost for some time now.

I've picked several other locks in my collection upside down now, and I believe you to be correct about the angle of the lock or the way I have to hold the picks in order to work in this position.

I suppose I'll just be finding a jack and taking the beds apart as soon as I can get one. Grandpa is a stickler for tight tolerances.

hmm..

(this is not mocking.. just going over ideas now to assist you)

if you have issues picking it "upside down", can you not just pull the bed away from the wall, and rotate the lock a bit the other way?

Although on further looking at the photos, I see where you may be having issues with it rotating at all..

hmm.. flip yourself upside down? hang off from the top bunk?

Start a new sport, extreme picking. 8)

Haha, I can see it now.

Climb to the top of the rock face and pick the lock before the charges detonate!

I'll try turning the bed over tomorrow evening after I get back from work. Thanks!
