The M1 blank is 4 pin, the M10 blank is 5 pin. The actual keyway name is something different than either number, but not being a locksmith, I am not sure what it is.

I will grab a couple of your older locks and pick them for comparison of the updated M1 lock cylinder. It has been a while since I last picked the Commando locks and my skills have improved since then. Therefore to make a more accurate evaluation, will pick a couple of them, then get back and post the comparison.

@Evan - Thank you for correcting my misunderstanding of the ILCO key number. I still have tons to learn. That is why my signature still has not changed. I appreciate all the knowledge that so many people here share with me.

Good call Evan. That makes sense--And is the M15 for the 6 pin? I have 25K 4 pin cylinders I haven't used and I think they're not stamped with any designation. I recall a number that specifies a left hand keyway vs right hand as well. I'll check my 4 pin cylinders and report back.

Yikes! That has got to be a painful inventory to have on the shelf when you make locks with 5 pins. Hope you find a buyer (unless you already have a use in mind).

P.S. in response to a previous post, yes, I stop by the CLC website every week or two to see if you have added more of your blogs. One if them prompted me to shoot off an email to Bosnian Bill (hopefully the email I have is still good). Your posts can be entertaining to read, and are frequently informative.

Master only has three stock product offerings using six pin keys... They all use the pro-series padlock bodies and are:

• K700 (key) W700 (keyway) for safety lockout locks
• K7000 (key) W7000 (keyway)
• KWP6 (key) WP6 (keyway) which is the six pin Edge keyway

The same cylinder for the W7000 when only pinned with five pins is called the W6000...

Some of the "house key" compatible cylinders may be drilled for six pins and of course the padlocks which accept SFIC housings use six or seven pin cylinders...

As far as I know with the four pin stock products there are only four keyways:

• K1 (key) W1 (keyway) which we all know as "M1"
• K1RSV (key) W1RSV (keyway) which is a Registered keyway
• K2 (key) W2 (keyway) mirror reverse of K1 (Ilco #1092R)
• KWP4 (key) WP4 (keyway) which is the four pin Edge keyway

Y11 is a smaller key normally used for disc/wafer tumbler locks
Y1 is the 999 paracentric keyway we are all familiar with.
I had never seen the Y200 in person.
AB62R is actually an ABUS blank, I have some Y5/Y52 blanks that also fit.

Y52 is the same as Y200, the only difference is that Y200 has a shoulder stop on the top and bottom of the blade, where Y52 only has one on the bitting side of the blade...

Given the commandolock padlock configuration Y52 does look like the better keyblank to use... Although you can always remove an unwanted shoulder or shorten a longer keyblank if you had to do so...
