I really appreciate this info, guys. Thanks very much. I'll try a tiny bit of dry graphite first as we live in one of the least humid places in the country.

I never used it to pick a lock with, I just pack the cylinder full after rekeying a lock on the job
For picking I just use a spray lubricant

because it inherently makes clicking and crunching noises with the associated tactile sensations


Some things in a lock sound similar at first such as this, or setting and false setting a serrated pin for example. Over time and with practice, you'll learn to hear or feel the difference. Just keep at it, slow it down if need be and you'll get there.
