Nice job Joshua904! It's good to see them falling open in the hands of others.

Was going to make a key for mine tonight, but beer got in the way.

Two months away from the 1 year anniversary I got mines. Still no success, but still fun attempting. It's definitely well above my skill level, but I refuse to give up.

Anyone else get there's open? I know there's gotta be more folks with them since the start of this thread.

Very impressive -those trampoline pins are a horrible pain. I don't have one, but I'm curious about a couple of things.
1) Have you managed to find blanks?
2) Can the lock be disassembled once opened?
3) Are all the locks in this batch keyed alike?

It doesn't seem cheap or easy to get information/parts to make a key for Trioving locks.

I know this is an old one, but...

@Squelchtone let me borrow his TrioVing at the last TOOOL meetup in Boston after I spent 2.5 hours trying to get it open. The guy is a total mensch. He's never met me before and lets me walk out of the place with an amazing lock and some street sweeper bristles. Amazingly generous!

Anyway....

Image

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

Got it open!

Here's what I did:

I used the Sparrows Dog Ear Squared .032" flat bar and loaded it up with tension. I went down the stack two or three times with a Sparrows Offset Hybrid, clicking everything in place. I got a false set, but there were only a couple that needed to be set after that. The biggest mistake I made was trying to pick this thing like it was a standard spooled lock, like an ABUS 83. I was using light tension, feeling for the counter rotation, clicking it in place, hearing pins drop, resetting them, rinse and repeat. Being aggressive with this lock was the key (at least for me).

Thanks again to @Squelchtone! I'm going to find a way to cut a "key" for this. Seeing as how no one can find a blank, I might just take a .040" piece of metal, bent it at the top to match the right hook at the top of the keyway, and file it down to match the key pins. If it works, I'll post what I did with pics, vids, etc...

Thanks again @Squelchtone - you made my day,

I got the pick on video...

It seems like this lock prefers heavy tension and some rough picking.

Hope this helps!

I got one of these cool Trioving locks a long time ago and after picking mine I decided to take it apart to see why it was so hard to pick.

To my surprise it has master pins in it?! Just wondering if anyone else took theirs apart at any point?

Notice the groove at the bottom from picking it so much! Also the grove to accommodate a sidebar. I guess this padlock body can be used for other higher security plugs.

One thought I had as to why it was so difficult to pick was that every time one of the master pins was picked it would cause a bunch of the others to drop down. Kind of like overlifting pins does except it would just pick it to a higher cut. Just a thought.

Also, it took some serious work to get it back together! I had to make a special wire to hold up the driver pins to slip the plug back in kind of like an Almont Rekey padlock. Except I had to have the plug spun 180 degrees so the wire holding the drivers up could get pulled out after it was in. It was an ordeal... I wish I would have made a video. :(

Did anyone have any joy with finding blanks for these 5652? I got it picked, but now faced with the same challenge to find some blanks. No joy in the usual profile books or Google:

Sadly I missed the big Ebay sale on these babies.

Anyone have any luck bitch-picking one? Given the comments I'm reading here it sounds like that might work well.

Nice picking, MrA! Good seeing you back in these parts again. :D

Know you prefer real keys, but if you can't get one, that keyway does not look paracentric, so a thinner piece of flat metal could be made to work.
