Major Safe Combination Lock Won't Open

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

In regards to the safe combo itself, turning the dial all in one direction isn't going to help for similar reasons as stated above including the fact that once the flys pick up, the pack will be turning as a whole.

That's why I said:
Spin it back and forth a few dozen times at speed.

I mean spin it ten times one way, then back the other way ten times, for a total of a few dozen times.

I figure this would heat/wear where the actual issue is, and perhaps let it dial in properly.

Anyway, OP, any luck? What have you tried so far?

I have an Idea for you,..... CALL A SAFESMITH!! nothing I hate worse then the customer trying to fix things they know nothing about and making our jobs harder. Most of the ideas I have heard would cause more damage than good..."chucking the dial up in a drill?" jeez ppl.

Stuck com lock

There are several possible causes for your problem but the most likely and the easiest to fix is the 'drop arm' sticking and not falling into the wheel gates (caused by a weak spring and or dirt buildup). As previously stated by Varjeal, use a heavy plastic or rubber hammer and give the door face several hard whacks. This will only work when you have dialed in the correct combination AND have the dial set at the drop in point (just prior to its opening position - around about number 10 on S&G or Lagard locks). Hope this helps. :D

I would agree with the above as i have a chubb manifoil which i play with, and if theres not alot of l tension on the spring that drops the comb/dropping arm then it wont drop or throw the bolt so wont open......as for hitting it with a hammer/mallet it may work but i dont know
