Don't pry!!!
If the plug and master ring are turning as one, re-pick it so just the plug turns.
Since the lock has the tailpiece off, if you are determined to disassemble, you can use a shim from the back between the plug and the master ring to shim just the plug.

a progressive kit with plain and spool pins to help me learn. Andrew is sending me a kit with serrated to continue my education. As an aside, my Southord MPXS-20 has been extended with SSD Dev hooks and additional tension wrenches for the challenge. which all still fit the original case. Regards Ray

Thanks - I decided not to pry, thankfully! Turns out the entire thing was one plug, but it comes out front to back instead of the other way around. I'm guessing the big-a$$ pin in 2 was meant to keep the plug from being removed? Now to find that darn spring...lol

Nice SS dual shearline. Even from the look of the disassembled pic, the plug and MR sleeve appear to be independent of one another, and as such should be capable of independent-keyed shearlines. Appears yours has been modified to an SKD though.
Is that a true Mogul cylinder (2" diameter)? Pics make it look smaller than it likely is.

Found it...hiding in plain sight, of course Robotnik wrote:Nice SS dual shearline. It's a hair under 2 1/4". I bought it advertised as a prototype so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. The plug and sleeve DO appear to be independent but won't move independently. I wonder if it has to do with this hex? I don't think I can remove it though - it looks like it's melted out of shape or something on the lower left.

It looks like they screwed it in then ran a grinder over it, is all. The deformation you see is most likely just a piece that ground into the surface of the body. If it were me, I'd put some torque on it and see if it'll come out!

My building got new mailboxes so I wondered if I could pick the locks on them. I found one cheap online and ordered it. It was a pain in the butt, only because nothing seemed to really fit for tension BOK without getting in the way of pins, so I resorted to TOK which barely held in place without getting in the way. Tomorrow evening I will unwrap it and see what goodies are inside!

Bought a "Bag o locks" off ebay this week. Managed to pick two so far. The one on the right, I picked and turned a full 90 degrees but the shackle still won't pop or pull open. I don't have any shims, either. Any ideas?

Just woke up an hour ago but what a morning! Picked another one from my ebay box o'locks, and FINALLY picked my Schlage KS23 (the tension really threw me off all this time). The American lock from my ebay locks is kinda strange though. It won't completely open, but when I pick a pin near the back it turns to around 1-2 o'clock, almost into how SFIC locks turn to control mode. It even seems to have a sleeve at the bottom with the holes in it like my BEST SFICs. I thought I had it in a false set but it turns quite a bit to be that.

What a day...all six pins picked!!! A couple of months ago my local locksmith (who services and sells Medecos) told me not to even bother, and that in his 30 years of locksmithing he's never been able to pick one. Well, I did it! Granted, I believe this is a classic Medeco (which I'm guessing is an easier one compared to the newer models), but I have my S&G 833 and m3 locks to start on now... I'm so happy!!!
