Also, you previously defined sta1n as a bad thing, then said that we know our sta1nage.

um...I use the word sta1n and it's variations like a lot. So sta1n for me can be like anything.

Do you mind getting back to the topic before the mods shut down this thread? If you have nothing relevant to contribute, let others do the writing. This forum can be a great place to discuss locks and related technology if you want it to be.

Here's some more locks to add:

Vachette Radial, Radial S, Radial Si, Radial NT
Keso 1000, 2000, S, Omega

Interesting list, but it doesn't seem to be quite the same as the list suggested on this thread. Not so many European locks either, and tons of cheap stuff (eg Wire Rope brand???)

hello.

i found this page on google and whilst reading and noting the topic i needed to read on.

i was looking earlier at the abus granit and the chubb battleship lock as a means of securing a motorcycle which i've recently bought. it's the only thing i own that's worth anything to anyone and me.

i need to invest in a lock.

can you guys please recommend me a super silly good lock that i should look at to consider buying please?

i'd pay anything from £200 - £400 for a padlock.

i know i'm being silly saying £400 but really what should i consider from your extensive lists?

thankyou so much for the help and sorry if i've distracted you from the main topic!

the granit has flaws.

Get an Abloy PL362 with Protec keys.

unpickable to date, and a solid metal body with shoulders to slow down people cutting the shackle or chain. Great for outdoor use, will never rust.

can i also assume it's freeze resistant and suck like?

hope you're getting an equally awesome 10mm-14mm chain. and yes, the Abloy PL362 is made to survive the winters of Finland, so I'm sure it will be ok in the UK.

look into Squire or OnGuard 14mm hexogontal chains

yes i wouldn't leave myself without a nice chain. thankyou for your thoughtfullness.

the worry was mainly freeze sprays as they are used, though rarely.

i was looking at that lock you suggested and i must say i'm very pleased with it.

would you suggest it as being the number 1 choice for me?

sorry, i assure you this is my last request for advice.

would you rate an abus chain over the squire or onguard?

Sorry to ressurect an old post, but I think this is important advice. I would never put my faith in a chain below 16mm and certainly not one with through hardened links, the site below should give all the chain advice needed and also sells 16 and 19mm chains:-

http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/

(no afiliation on my part, not even a customer yet)

Their page showing videos of most popular (UK) chains being cropped in under a minute is an eye-opener.

It is always advisable to get a solid ground anchor to use at home , otherwise you are wasting your money, some of the anchors out there are utter rubbish.

I use a 16mm Oxford chain and an Abloy PL362N (Protec), but I am going to buy an Almax 19mm chain soon and downgrade the Oxford to my second bike with a second PL362N.

There is also a manufacturer that sells chains under the name 'Protector' in larger sizes that has a unique product called the 'anti-pinch pin' designed to pass through a small gap on a motorcycle such as a hollow axle, unfortunately it is for use with Squire padlocks only, but worth investigating if you have to pass your chain through a wheel which is easy to remove.

The bottom line is that if a theif has time and privacy, they can take anything, noise is their worst enemy - but if a tree falls in the forrest and nobody hears it fall?

Cheers
